Hypnos

So pumped to share this commission piece! The brief for Hypnos was to make a painting based off of the 1986 Jim Henson film The Labyrinth.

The client had watched a time lapse video I had posted on YouTube with an artwork that was based on the extended universe of The Wizard of Oz. The parts that resonated with them were how I detailed what my version of the classic technicolour masterpiece would look like. I some times get fascinated with the side characters in films and often wonder what their story was like. I feel possessed to want to know them and have to expel those thoughts into my paintings.

Hypnos is a piece heavily inspired by the Labyrinth set pieces, from the architectural shoulder brace to the two puppet inspired characters. I feel like I’ve almost cut and paste my version and turned up the saturation to 11.
